What had he discovered?
Leif has discovered a few places: Greenland and Vineland
Leif had discovered Greenland when there was no written tradition. Stories were told through an oral form called Icelandic saga, this would be when they would sit round and tell stories about their ancestors, which would then be told to the next generation, then the one after that, and so on. Leif named it Greenland, as he thought that if it had an appealing name it would attract more people. Leif also found many grape- vines, in which he name Vineland.
Leif was probably motivated to do this by the same reason as his father: the idea of going out and finding something.
