Leif Eriksson was a pagan, like most Vikings. This did effect the Vikings, as Christians were not allowed to trade with pagans (the Vikings). This had forced the Vikings to raid and pillage instead.

Leif visited Norway in 1000 AD and was converted to Christianity by King Olaf I of Norway. Olaf I asked Leif to return back to Green land and take Christianity there.
