What was his family life like?
Leif was the second son of Erick the Red. Erick the Red had displayed a complex role model for Leif to understand. Eriksson had learnt many things form his father, this includes:
· How to behave correctly on a ship
· How to be a leader
· How to deal with the farm
· How to manage nature (gentle)
Leif had quite a large family, consisting of brothers, half-sisters, etc.
Earlier life
Later life
Leif had met his wife, Thorgunna, when he was visiting King Olaf I in Norway and was blown of track, arriving on one of the Hebrides islands. Because of the poor weather, Leif decided to stay on the island for the summer, as it would have been impossible for his to depart. Leif met Thorgunna, and she gave birth to Leif’s son. When it was time for Leif to leave, Thorgunna asked if she could go with him, but Leif refused.
